I am famili...Lee, Thanks for checking out my blog. I am familiar with that area but have no had the chance to explore it much (yet!). I do know that there are a lot of lakes down that way. One of my favorite and most successful ways of seeing wildlife is getting on a canoe or kayak and paddling very quietly. I'd recommend this in that area. Birds are especially plentiful along lake/river shorelines. Also, there are a plethora of local parks in Chesterfield County, as well as Pocahontas State Park. Talk to naturalists at these parks.
